Brookestone Village Walks in Support of ALS in the Heartland

This past Sunday, May 1st, was the ALS in the Heartland’s 10th Anniversary Omaha Community Walk. It was a cold and rainy first day of May, but that didn’t keep Brookestone Village’s residents, family members and team members away from this special event.

Due to the adverse weather conditions, the ALS in the Heartland had to come up with a “plan B”, moving all their festivities inside the Blue Cross Blue Shield parking garage. There was food, a photo booth, giveaways, face painting and music. The rain did not put a damper on the spirits of all who attended! We walked for our friends, family members and Brookestone Village families who have been affected by this disease.

From the ALS in the Heartland’s website: “ALS in the Heartland’s mission is to help those affected as they live with the disease. Services include lending equipment, providing counseling (for patients and anticipatory grief and loss therapy for their families), respite services, and spreading awareness. Not being under the umbrella of a national organization, 100% of ALS in the Heartland’s proceeds stay in Nebraska and western Iowa. However, as an independent agency, they must rely on funds raised at events like the Walk to continue their mission.”

As a team Brookestone Village raised money through the sale of our internal wellness program t-shirts, and will be making a donation to this great organization on behalf of all at Brookestone Village who have been touched by this disease.
